custom resurrection for nadine

Ok Nadine! Go and rock this clutch like only you can...the contrast between Nadine's luxurious dark olive green silk-satin dress this clutch was made to match, and the soft earthy-ness of the clutch itself, made from a suede and leather skirt, are going to be perfect. Can't wait to see a picture of the bag with the whole outfit at the art auction in NYC! I know your gonna make me proud Nadine...
Next up is a "Resurrection" (ha, I like that phrase) for Dee in CT, my inspiration for this project is her new "MAYHEM" tattoo, kinda 80's rock and roll since the tattoo is based on tommy lee's similar ink emblazened on his stomach...I'm stoked because I just got a giant red leather jacket to cut up (from my mom's closet and probably also from the 80's) and I think I'm going to use it for this project...rock on!

Art Show at RUIN and more...

The show at Ruin was fun...the art was displayed on a roof top, there was a full moon, and some interesting people. I really need to start bringing a camera so I have pics to post, live and learn.

anyway, there were 5 other artists that were set up, 2 of my favs were kimi takemura, awesome insanely detailled illustrations edward gory inspired with her own japonesque characters...http://kimitakemura.daportfolio.com/

and brien white, who did large oils and acrylics of ganesh and buddah but in a dreamy metallic, these were also really detailled and pretty freakin amazing...www.brienwhite.com

I made a batch of black cuffs...some with leather ruffle, some are kind of modern and deconstructed...and got some great inspiration for future designs as some of the crowd was dressed to impress with elaborate hair-do's and tons of feather headpieces, gotta love that! I'll be posting some of the items I made here on the blog...eventually. I didn't make any new handbags, I kept it easy and affordable, but I am digging the cuffs, and the scarves I have been working on...if you want to see pictures from the event search ladead.com (I think)

Two Headed Deer..."DOE DOE"

I just love this long chain rockin version of maybe a Chanel bag...hehehe what would Coco think?

art show at RUIN

I'll be setting up my stuff at RUIN in LA this Saturday night JUNE 26th! should be fun to hang out at a club and people watch...all is quiet in the studio right now, but I did just aquire a bunch of old leather jackets and bags to hack into pieces...a great big red coat...should be fun since I have done sooo much in black leather, though I do love working with black...and I was on a roll with my "little black cuff" idea of making only cuffs in black, all different styles...everyone needs at least one black cuff...

NYC tattoo convention aftermath...

Just got back from the 13th annual NYC Tattoo Convention and wow, I can't believe it's over already! 13 years...13 freakin' years...I haven't done anything for that long except be alive...but it's true I have done this convention every year for the past 13, and every year it's been good to me. I have tried other conventions, but none compare. The people are open to creativity and are not afraid to spend money on it...and man do I love them!

So now as my old business Lucky Girl Handbags has come to a close, a new concept has taken shape...one I am very proud of and one that reflects more of who I am through this art form of mine; Resurrected by Adriane...I'm taking old leather garments and turning them into new functional works of art... it's a bit eco friendly and anti-consumerism (does that make sense?) and a lot more a form of art because each piece is completely one of a kind by being born from something else, almost like it still had some life left it just needed some help getting there...and it goes hand in hand with realizing that a resource like leather is precious because an animal died for it, so by reusing it it is being RESURRECTED...and I like that. thanks for reading!
